yeah it ruins the ambiance sometimes.
There’s a bootleg I have of Neil Young singing “Sugar Mountain.” The audience starts to clap like this and he stops the song and says “You can’t–you can’t do that.” Mostly Neil’s wry sense of humor but still to the point. There are some songs meant to clap along to–this is not one of them.
